Racial Reconciliation

My Racial Reconciliation Workshop is an interactive, pastorally guided environment where Christian leaders can face the realities of race in the Church without losing sight of the cross. I design this workshop for elders, pastors, staff, and key lay leaders who sense that silence or confusion around race is harming their witness, yet feel unsure how to begin.

I start by grounding the conversation in Scripture, showing that reconciliation is not a sociological trend but a gospel mandate. From there, I invite participants into honest reflection on their own stories and the history of their congregation and community. Through structured exercises and guided conversations, leaders learn to listen across racial, cultural, and generational lines in ways that lower defensiveness and increase mutual understanding.

Because I have lived and worked on both sides of many divides-as an African American leader, a retired police sergeant, and a pastor in diverse church traditions-I am able to name hard truths with empathy. The workshop explores themes like lament, repentance, repair, and shared hope, always moving toward Christ-centered restoration rather than blame.

Participants leave with practical tools: language for preaching and teaching on race, guidelines for hosting congregational dialogues, ideas for cross-cultural partnerships with other churches, and initial steps for addressing local wounds. When desired, this workshop can also serve as the front door to longer-term planning, including a Racial Reconciliation Roadmap or consulting engagement for your region.
